This work was made as an offering for all women, in response to the recent Supreme Court decision, the Dobbs decision, that deeply impacts their rights.

In the work I merged images of a woman’s hand and a woman embracing her face in her arms with camera-less and painted images of orchids. To me the orchid bulb brings a metaphor for the woman’s uterus. Bringing the orchid as uterus up to her chest, she gives it to her heart. All the time she is loving her body and spirit. I let the painted image drape downward and peel toward the viewer so that we see both sides of the work.
