      • Roots to FlourishThis serpent-dragon, a tattoo, is sprouting roots to symbolize our need to be rooted to flourish in our lives.

We breathe oxygen which trees release during photosynthesis and release carbon dioxide which the trees take in for their own nourishment.

Composed of multiple photo negatives, a tattoo of a vintage image of a phoenix merges with hands meeting each other and a camera-less image of a praying mantis in this work.

Will the praying mantis, like the phoenix, continue to rise from the ashes created by human hands? Fires and climate warming are affecting insect populations.
