Photographs need gathering to make sense. Lorna Simpson has made exciting art works consisting of photographs both found and created by her. This post is about one of her pieces currently at The Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum. To me, the word ‘cloud’ is both a real physical cloud [...]

Children naturally connect to the precious in animals and nature. They are responsive to the beauty and variety of the world. Whether it’s birds nests, young rabbits, trees to climb or carrots from the garden, children know how to cherish each experience.

As soon as I put up my work at the Textile Arts Center I realized the connection my work has with arts that have quality in their materials and beauty in their design. Whether my work is done in silver gelatin or the painterly methods of platinum or palladium, I work by hand. Platinum and [...]

This summer, which just recently turned to fall, has been incredibly busy for me. A lot of photography–weddings, maternity, very new babies, continuing photographing babies as they grow. Also continuing photographing in Vermont for the inner story of a place. My next few posts will catch up to the present.

Where they live, where she works, where they go to church, where they hang out and the warmth and humor of their families and friends. Elegant and simple decorations and champagne to take home. Partying and dancing and people they love. The ingredients of an amazing wedding. This was Ok and Tim’s day. The ceremony [...]
Right after rain, the sky clears in a way that the blue is brilliant. The day was crisp but this three month old had her first glimpse of the spring sun and the awakening buds.
