These photographs are from current work. These diptychs are of a mother-to-be. We are already planning to photograph her beloved baby. These maternity photographs have a special look with double exposures using nature. My client comments that the “double exposures soften and add motion. The water gushing through is like the birth experience.”
I did these photographs with my 4X5″ camera using black and white film and printed the negatives using platinum palladium on Japanese gampi paper. Platinum and palladium are metals, more precious than gold. Gampi paper is a natural fiber paper. It is often handmade. Using different papers give different looks to the prints.
